Mother Eliatha Dora Ketter Bright

2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is
in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to
me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

The Ketter, Carter, Bright, Ashcroft and Cassell families with deep sorrow announce the peaceful home going of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt Eliatha Dora Ketter Bright in her 78th year. This sad event occurred in Monrovia, Liberia on May 19, 2020.

Mother Bright faithfully served the Lord as a dedicated and committed member of Eliza Turner Memorial AME Church on Camp Johnson Road and later Turner Chapel AME Church in Marietta, Georgia. She was once the Conference Branch President of the Women Missionary Society and served as Principal of the F.M. Reid Christian School. She worked for many years in different capacities at the Bank of Liberia and later the National Bank of Liberia. She will be remembered as a kindhearted, loving and caring person who showed love to everyone she encountered.

Mother Eliatha Dora Ketter Bright leaves to mourn her loss her children, Joel O. Carter (Shirley), Rev. Wheigar Bright (Fata), Rev Victor King, Yartu Grigsby (Raymond), Nimadeh Bright, Rev J. Jellico Bright Jr. (Aprill), Rev Dr. Tar-U-Way R. A. Bright (Retta), Garway A. D. Bright (Doris) and Archie R. E. Ashcroft; her siblings Evelyn Ketter Cassell, David B. Ketter, Ethel Smith and Evangeline Massalay; her foster children, Charles Dennis, Nancy Eastman Baba (Sam), Ettie Tabolo, Comfort Bright and Henry Jaffa; her former husband Rev. Canon J. Jellico Bright, Sr. and brother-in-law Fr. Dee Wellington Bright (Monyue); her grandson Counsellor U-Jay W.H.S. Bright (Kebeh), her caretaker over the last eight years.

Twenty-two (22) grandchildren, Nine (10) great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of many other relatives, friends and loved ones in the US and Liberia.

Mommy Bright was predeceased by her father, William H. Ketter, mother, Yankah Vyolloh, and her sister, Anna Mittie Louise Ketter Pratt.

On Thursday, May 28th, 2020, the private funeral and interment will be live streamed on Facebook KMTV.
