Nyneplu Elizabeth Catherine Tubman

September 8, 1945 – November 5, 2025
With profound sadness, the family announces the homegoing of Nyneplu Elizabeth Catherine Tubman, beloved daughter of the late President William V. S. Tubman, 18th President of the Republic of Liberia, and Madame Latilewa Wright. Born on September 8, 1945 in Monrovia, Liberia, she lived a life of dignity, compassion, and unwavering service to her faith, family, community, and beloved homeland.
Nyneplu’s educational journey took her through Sierra Leone, Liberia, England, and the United States—experiences that broadened her perspective and strengthened her pride in her Liberian heritage. She served with distinction at the Liberian Embassy in Washington, D.C., the Liberian Telecommunications Service, and the John Hope Settlement House in Providence, Rhode Island.
After retiring, she returned to Liberia, the place she cherished above all others. She often expressed her patriotism through her cherished words: “There’s no place like home.”
A respected member of the Voices of the Elders, Nyneplu worked to preserve cultural identity, inspire unity, and strengthen intergenerational bonds within the community. Her faith guided her life, and she worshipped with the First United Methodist Church in Liberia and the Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church in Providence, Rhode Island.
She also served with dedication as Administrative Director of Obaa’s Girls Educational Outreach, Monrovia, Liberia, where she played a key role in empowering young girls through education and mentorship.
Nyneplu is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces, and a large circle of relatives and friends who will forever cherish her kindness, humility, and enduring love.
