Elaine T. Dunn

It is with great sadness that the Dunn, Fernandez, and Harmon families announce the unexpected passing of their dear wife, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 1:25 pm GMT. Elaine T. Dunn (born Fernandez) was the second of 6 children to bless the home of Ambassador William B. Fernandez and Laura A. Emmons Fernandez on August 11th, 1948.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband Edward L. Dunn Jr. (Eddie), whom she affectionately called “Babish”; her siblings Yvette Yaidoo (Harrison), Gabriel Fernandez "Gaby" (Alison), and Louisa Merchant; her in-laws Lafayette (Otterlee), Arnu (Joy), and Joseph Diggs (Rachel), Milton Greaves (Estella), Joyce Mends-Cole, Jewel Harmon, Mary Dunn, Elwood Dunn (Matilda), Ellen Walker, Emmett Dunn (Suan); her biological children, Eliane Dunn Johnson and spouse EJ, Pushie Watson, and Edward Dunn (Liam) and spouse Sabra; as well as her other children, Rushie Fernandez Kemokai and spouse James, and Janet Peters Zumo and spouse Dr. Lawrence Zumo. Among her many nephews, and nieces, are Alexander Fernandez (Shaka) and spouse Veronica, Manjah, Mady, Tajiri, and Nandi Fernandez, Chukuma, Courtney, and Kimani Merchant, and Gabriel Greaves. Her grandchildren are Elise, Nuelle, and Manny Johnson; Chiara and Jesse Watson; Ariana, Lauren, Elon, and Levi Dunn. Her trusted staff at UWTS headed by Thomas Bonah and the ITS staff also share in the sadness of her passing. She also leaves to share in this great sadness family members in Guinea and Cote D’Ivoire and a host of relatives and friends in Liberia and the United States.

Elaine Dunn’s untimely death occurred in Monrovia, doing what she loved best – GIVING and SERVING all of God’s children. To know her was to know that she stood for what was RIGHT in God’s eyes. She was also known for her teasing, and her laughter which we will certainly miss. Elaine was loved by so many, but Father God loved her even more. Her labor of love on this side is done and her legacy of love will live on!

Elaine was predeceased by her father Ambassador William B. Fernandez, her mother Laura Emmons Fernandez, her older brother Bill Fernandez, and younger sister Lorraine Fernandez Kumeh, and her baby boy Julian Lami Dunn.

As we know Elaine loved to write letters, we want to remember her in writing. Therefore, we are kindly asking that those interested in writing a tribute to do so in the form of a “short note” to her, along with a picture of yourself with her, and email it by 5 pm GMT on Monday, November 11, 2019 to tributesforelainedunn@gmail.com for publication.
