The Page, Rhinelander and Jones families regret to announce the home going of Mrs. Esther H. Page, a wife, mother, grandmother, aunty, niece, cousin, and friend. She passed away on Tuesday, December 03, 2019 in the afternoon at her residence in Monrovia, Liberia. Mrs. Esther H. Page was born on March 25, 1948 unto the union of Phillip and Jestina Rhinelander in Monrovia, Montserrado County, Liberia. Mrs. Page was the second (2nd) child of four children; two living (Adolphus K. Rhinelander & R. Emile Rhinelander) and one who predeceased her. She was a graduate of St. Theresa’s Convent High School (Class of 66) in Monrovia, Montserrado County. Upon her graduation from high school, she enrolled at the University of Liberia and graduated with a degree in Economics. Later on, in her life, she reenrolled at the University of Liberia and graduated with a second degree in Accounting. In 1984, she travelled to the United States to peruse her Master’s Degree in Accounting and completed in 1986. Upon her return to Liberia, Mrs. Page continued her work at the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) as the Deputy Comptroller until the civil war in 1990. Mrs. Page worked at the Ministry Education in the ‘70s. She joined the University of Liberia’s family in 1991 as the Comptroller and served in that capacity for many years before becoming Vice President for Fiscal Affairs. She also contributed to the Accounting Department as an Adjunct Professor until she retired from the University.

Mrs. Page was a devoted Episcopalian her entire life. She served in various capacities at Trinity Cathedral Church and the Diocesan level. However, her strong devotion to serve made her to affiliate with other churches and organizations in and out of Liberia. Mrs. Page served on many societal organizations’ boards in and out of Liberia.

Mrs. Page served as a Lay Reader of Trinity Cathedral Episcopal Church for many years. As a strong believer of women empowerment, she reactivated Trinity Girls’ Friendly Society (GFS) after the civil war in 1990 and served as an advisor. She also served as the Diocesan President of “GFS” up to the time she migrated to the United States of America. Mrs. Page served as President of Trinity Church Women (TCW) for three (3) terms and later became advisor of the organization. She became a member of the Executive Chapter of Trinity Cathedral for four (4) terms and also served as Treasurer. She also served as Program Chairperson of the Episcopal Church Women of Liberia (ECWL). Mrs. Page love for helping young people made her to serve as Trinity Youth Fellowship (TYF) advisor for many years. She also supported the Sunday School for many years and her support continued even while she was living in the United States.

Mrs. Esther H. Page was a Board Member of The Liberian National Red Cross Society for many years of which she later became Treasurer of. Mrs. Page was also a Board Member and Treasurer of the Bible Society of Liberia (BSL). She was instrumental in negotiating for BSL to have her own building. Today, BSL has her very own building in Sinkor, Monrovia, Liberia. Mrs. Page also served as an Elder at Church of Salvation in Congo Town, Liberia and was very supportive of their activities. Other organizations that she devoted her time and service to are as follow: Order of the Son and Daughter of the King (OSDK), Order of the Eastern Star (OES), House of Ruth, Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE), and the Monrovia Greater Lion and Lioness Club.

Mrs. Esther H. Page, also known by many as “Aunty”, “Mammie”, “Small Sister”, “Oldma”, “Aunty Esther”, “Mother Page”, “Sister Page”, “EP”, “EHP”, and “Mrs. Page” leaves to mourn her loss: her children: Lawodo Nimley Thomas (Francis K. Thomas), Alvin M. Dennis (Cecelia H. Dennis), Ninje L.J. Page, all of whom reside in Liberia, and Garblah W. Page (Guina J. Page) of the United States; her brothers Adolphus K. Rhinelander (Blessing N. Rhinelander) (USA), and R. Emile Rhinelander (Rev. Josephine H. Rhinelander) (Canada). She also leaves to mourn Isaac R. Dennis (USA), Dekontee A. Tubman, Barbara Z. Quie, Jerry G. Winnie, Comfort Wombi, James W. Page Jr., Jestina N. Jones, Zelyn Seniah Z. Zabalee, Maima D. Cooper, and Quincy Greene; six (6) grandchildren; aunties, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, a host of other relatives, and trusted friends living in Liberia, The United States, and around The World. May her soul, and the souls of all those who predeceased her, rest in perfect peace!
