John Clement Alexander Gibson, III
It is with thanksgiving and profound sadness that the Gibson, Cooper, Blake, Pritchard, White, Coleman, Johns, Snetter, Hoff, Porte, Goodridge, and Jones families announce the peaceful homegoing of our beloved father, uncle, grandfather, granduncle, nephew and cousin, John Clement Alexander Gibson, III affectionately called Chuckie and Prezo.
Chuckie left us at 8:37 a.m. on September 2, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Hospital in Monrovia with his daughter, Helen Mae, at his bedside.
He was predeceased by his parents, General John C. A. Gibson, II and Mrs. Sarah Blake Gibson, as well as his siblings: Mrs. Elizabeth Gibson Coleman, Mrs. Esther Gibson Massaquoi, Counsellor Julia F. Gibson, Mr. Bernard A. Gibson, Sr., Counsellor Sarah J. Gibson and Ms. H. Magdalene Gibson.
Mourning his passing are his widow, Irlene Cooper Gibson, his children, Sarah Julia (Chris), Julius Francis, Bernard (Taiwo), and Helen Mae, his uncle, Frederick Gibson and his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins, including the two eldest, Sarah Johns Tejan and Alexine Mends-Cole Howard as well as friends from Crown Hill and all walks of life.
A silent wake for Chuckie will be held on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Eliza Turner Memorial AME Church on Camp Johnson Road from 6-8pm.
Removal of his remains from the Samuel Stryker Funeral Parlour on Tubman Boulevard, Sinkor, Monrovia to the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun and Gurley Streets will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 9 a.m.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church on Ashmun and Gurley Streets in Monrovia, Liberia.
Interment immediately follows at Kaiser Cemetery, Brewerville.
